Television as the agenda-setter in the public domain, penetrate the social mainstream gender values and gender order into daily life by gender narrative to affect all aspects of public life, ideas and value judgment. Drama as literary works, its ultimate purpose is not entertainment, due to every piece comes with its own values. Male chauvinism is still dominant in our contemporary urban emotional drama. Image of women is stereotyped in a more clever way and sewn into the traditional patriarchal system to further strengthen the gender order that women dependent on men. The construction of gender images is one-sided and uneven. This is associated with our gender and cultural traditions and public collective unconscious. In the play, the factors that distinguish the social class that individuals belonging to, like wealth, career, status, play a more important role to the construction of the male image. However, If only was well-behaved, beautiful or sexy," and she would be a happy woman.This article takes the popular domestic urban emotional drama in nearly five years as examples, like Beijing Love Story, Let’s get married!, A Clear Midsummer Night and so on. Study and compare between the constructions of gender images in Chinese contemporary urban emotional drama, from drama visual language, gender narrative and other aspects, reveal the gender ideology, values, stereotypes, sexism that it spread. This article not only pay attention to the female consciousness thinking, at the same time, reveals that the enormous pressure in men’s life in the patriarchal society, examines the performance of the gender consciousness, initiatives to spread harmonious concept of gender and gender culture in play.
