Semantic Analysis And Rhetorical Interpretation Of Qing And Its Generative Phrases

Based on the comparison between The Great Chinese Dictionary and The Grand Chinese Dictionary, this thesis summarizes five meanings of QING (namely Chinese character "�'") according to its research purpose. Firstly, the thesis illustrates the semantic system and developing venation of QING from two perspectives of color connotation and color-independent sense; secondly, the thesis compiles the semantic relationships between meanings and word-formations of QING, and then analyzes the semantic features of these compound words; thirdly, the thesis explores the rhetoricization of semantic meanings of QING-formed words and expressions and describes the important role the rhetoric plays in the production of semantic meanings of QING and its compound words; lastly, the thesis details the extra cultural meanings of QING from both commendatory and derogatory angles.
