Lin Fei, born in Houpu Village, Jinan District of Fuzhou in1954, is one of the most influential sculptor in modern Shoushan Stone circle of China. Both he and his father, Lin Hengyun, are the Master of Arts and crafts of China. His brother, Lin Dong, is the Master of Arts and crafts of Fujian. His family is so called’three individuals come from one family’. As his father was engaged in the art of carving, Lin Fei had an unique advantage since his childhood. Studying from his father, he laid a solid foundation. He trained a lot of great sculptors of Luoyuan in five years since he became a master of Luoyuan Carving Factory in his 19th Through the college entrance examination, Lin Fei attended Fujian Arts and Crafts School to study the art of carving after the Cultural Revolution. He settled down and became a tutor of his alma mater after graduation. Since then, he set up his personal studio and devoted himself into carving. His work is all-embracing, as his creations has laid on both Chinese traditional culture and modern artistic style. In his works of the nude, he uses realistic carving technique to take off ladies’ clothes in order to show women’s graceful body posture. Lin Fei combines his superb carving skill and deep cultural details to make his works of the nude elegant and bright. As he used individualized method to teach his students tirelessly and selflessly, he has many apprentices and makes great contribution to the development of the art of Shoushan Stone carving. He gave great impetus to the increase of both the promotion and the value of Shoushan Stone.The article studies the features and styles of Shoushan Stone carving of Lin Fei, which provides enlightment for the innovation and development of art of Shoushan Stone carving.
