A Study Of Modal Particles In Yangzhou Dialect

The rich modal particles is one of the important signs of the difference between Chinese and western languages.In Yangzhou dialect, modal particles also play an important role,they are the expression of thoughts and feelings in the attitude of the important grammatical means,therefore,taking modal particles of Yangzhou street dialect as the research target.People use modal words to express ideas,emotions and attitudes. This paper’s research target is the modal particles of Yangzhou Street dialect.Do the descriptions in details and analysis of the modal meaning and the meaning of a sentence,classified and summarized, making it into a system.Thus, it can fill the gaps in the study of modal particles in Yangzhou dialect, and provide a reference for other scholars to do the study of the grammar of Yangzhou dialect.In this paper,to collecting data through the field survey,with the help of relevant research results of Mandarin modal particles and modal particles in other dialects,synchronic description way of description and detailed analysis on the streets of Yangzhou dialect words,sums up the streets of Yangzhou dialects modal particles.The purpose of this paper is to show the characteristics of the modal particles in Yangzhou dialect,to build the system of modal particles,to provide material for the study of dialect grammar.The first column of the 21 commonly used words,according to the meaning and function of the standard will be on the streets of Yangzhou dialect sentence final particles are divided into three categories: modal particle(4),modal words(12) and the interrogative words(5); then clarify the law of combination and the syntactic distribution of these three kinds, we also make comparison between the use and distribution of Mandarin tone words and modal particles in Yangzhou dialect;finally, to extension,we explored the pragmatic functions of three kinds of tone words.In addition,we also investigated the new-style Yangzhou dialect, comparing the results of the survey of the description and analysis before, and analysis of the social cause of the variation of modal words.
