A Study On The Urban Transformation Of Luoyang City Since The Song And Yuan Dynasties

Luoyang has entered the post-capital era after the Song and Yuan Dynasties. This thesis based on literature and archaeological data from the period of song dynasty to the republic of China Luoyang city several times destroyed, reconstruction, decline, the repair process, reconstruction change of Luoyang in the post-capital era, to explore the development and transformation of Luoyang city.Luoyang played a role as a political capital during Northern Song Dynasty, also as the conflict and cultural center and imperial tomb shrine. According to these reasons, the construction of city earned lots of attention, then, got recovery. In the aspect of urban construction, Luoyang presented a royal official construction and civil private common prosperity. At the end of Northern Song Dynasty, the city was conquered successively by Jin and Yuan. The war between Southern Song, Jin and Yuan ruined Luoyang which as the center of seesaw battles during long period.In Ming and Qing dynasties, Luoyang became the political center of Henan province, as well as Luoyang County, with a weaker political influence. But, the urban construction was recovered slowly. New brick wall was built in Ming Dynasty that confirmed the location of the town and the foundation of Laocheng Distract of Luoyang today. In Ming Dynasty, Luoyang was the fief of captaincy and the western town of Henan Province until Qing Dynasty. The city construction specifications were higher than other cities at the same political status, and the urban development has its own characteristics. During the period of the Republic of China, due to its special strategic function, Luoyang also had two great development opportunities, after falling due to political instability. In this period, the Xigong Distract of Luoyang had formed, and developed into important military space, far-reaching influence. Generally, since song dynasty and Yuan dynasty with the rise and fall of dynasties of Luoyang city is surplus shrinks, despite the general trend of decline, but there is still a period development, presents a curve change process, shows definite stages and levels.
