This is a report on the translation of Slanted Wings, a Chinese contemporary short novel written by Wang Yuewang. The author depicts a young man’s confusion and mess in modern life. Since he was very young, his father has hoped his son to live like a fierce eagle, with brave spirit and a clear aim. This burdened him with the stress of finding an excellent job, a decent wife, and bringing great glory to his family. However, many ordeals of real life strikes on him and facilitates his falls and indulgence. In such condition, he begins to conflict his father’s desire and confronts with a lot of miseries and troubles while spiritually he feels sad and vain..The keynote of the passage is sullen, but its writing techniques are flexible,unique, fresh and new. On narrative pattern, the article adopts first person narration which is quite creative, apart from which a large number of figures of speech such as simile,metaphor, repetition, onomatopoeia are applied to enhance the literal taste of article. These techniques are indispensable to set off environment and promote the development of plot. Therefore, this report will focus on describing all kinds of figures of speech and analyze their manifestation in the production of translation process. The report will include the following parts: introduction of book, author and literature school, translating process and text analysis and case study on how the stylist effect of figure of speech reproduce in the target text.The report concludes that in novel translating process, each translator must get to know a general knowledge of literature background, stylist feature, figure of speech, the theme of the article so that in the reproducing process, the target text can present the taste and style of the article with precision and original taste. What’s more, in C-E novel translation, we should read over the source text repeatedly, with the combination of C-E translation theory. Only in this way, can we avoid many chinglish and better grasp the accuracy of translation.
