Event related potential(event-related potential, ERP) refers to the potential produces in the brain when there is a psychological activity or the human body under a particular stimulus, it has excellent temporal resolution and can reflect the real-time change of brain neural activity in the cognitive process, the ERP technique is an important means of cognitive neuroscience research. This study used ERP technique, and Neuroscan recording and analysis system, using emotional words and emotional faces as the experimental stimulus material, combining with tachistoscopic visual half field and emotional valence decision task to explore the cognitive processing mechanism of the emotional words and emotional faces. To explore the characteristics of cerebral functional lateralization of emotion cognitive processing, analyzing and comparing on both sides of the ERP differences in the cerebral cortex.Reseach on the brain mechanism of emotional words cognitive processing:(1) the statistical results of the behavioral data(reaction time)showed that: the right visual field is faster than the left visual field, which showed right visual field advantage, meaning the processing of working memory of emotional and neutral words had an advantage in the right visual field(left hemisphere) relativing to the left visual field(right hemisphere).(2) ERP results showed that: P200, N400, LPC components all had emotional effect. N400 component showed the visual field main effects, and existed visual field partial lateralization(i.e. hemisphere partial lateralization), right visual field(left hemisphere) advantage.Reseach on the brain mechanism of emotional faces cognitive processing:(1) the statistical results of the behavioral data showed that: the left visual field(right hemisphere) had an advantage of processing negative emotional face, the right visual field(left hemisphere) had an advantage of processing positive emotional face.(2) ERP results showed that: N170 latency period showed the visual field main effects, and existed left visual field(right hemisphere) lateralization. The main effect of cerebral hemisphere existed left hemisphere advantage. LPC component had an interaction with emotional faces and visual field, and the left visual field had an advantage of processing negative emotional face. Emotional faces, visual field and cerebral hemisphere triple interactions showed the right hemisphere lateralization phenomenon of processing emotional face.
