The Analysis Of Three Dimensions Of Richard Shusterm’s Somaesthestics

Richard Shusterman is a famous contemporary American pragmatist philosopher and esthetician, his main contribution lies in the revival of American pragmatism and the construction of Somaesthetics. Richard Shusterman’s Somaesthetics originates from his Pragmatism philosophy and aesthetics, emphasizing the importance of the body in our daily life, social life, political life and aesthetics life, hoping to achieve the goal of the pursuit for a happy life by improving the body. Richard Shusterman’s construction of Somaesthetics is reflected in its three basic dimensions(branches): analytic smoaesthetics, pragmatic somaesthetic and practical somaesthetic, with particular emphasis on the part of practice. Through the carding and comparison for the three dimensions,we found that the three dimensions not only have a logic of theory- theory and application- the application, but also have the following three commons:(a), the pragmatic purpose of the pursuit of happiness;(b), the pluralism attitude of against binary opposition;(c), the reformist method of combining the critique and transformation. At last,we have a trying to explore the reason for these commons.
