In the middle of the 20 th century, Disney animation was in a dominant role and the public has been accustomed to its depiction mode and mainstream commercial aesthetic standard. However, a city named Zagreb in former Yugoslavia produced animation which was uniquely warm, humorous. The Yugoslavian animation stands out and produces diversifies animation styles known to the world. This paper seeks to analyze personal style of a pioneer in the Zagreb School, Bordo Dovnikovic in order to study similarities in this school. Combined with the time background of this people, an interpretation will be given concerning humor and wisdom from themes and styles. Artists render their creativity and imagination to conduct rational thinking and adoption in plain stories to present works full of absurdness and delight through hyperbole, sarcasm and fantasy. Those stories seem happy and humorous, while they are a reflection of the society then. The artists’ unique and respectful charisma is a determinant of the significant position of Zagreb School in the long history of animation in the world. We should consider the enlightment of Zagreb School of Animation on Chinese animation.
