There are three sections in the thesis. They respectively are the source text of Point of View in British Sign Language and Spoken English Narrative Discourse: the Example of “The Tortoise and the Hare”, the English-Chinese version of the source text and a report on the translation. By doing several experiments to analyze differences between sign language and spoken language, the source text mainly discusses how point of view is expressed in British Sign Language and spoken English narrative discourse, which may further help study and contrast the relationship among sign language and spoken language, translation and so on. For learners and researchers of English and Special Education, the translation version can then provide them with valuable references. The report on the translation consists of five parts. The first one introduces the basic information of the source text, such as where the source text is from, authors, the text type and linguistic features. The second briefly shows significance to choose this text to translate. The third is about preparations before translating. The fourth analyzes functional equivalence theory and some relevant skills by selecting some case. The fifth is the summary and conclusion of the report.
