The source text Culturally Driven Biases in Preschoolers’ Spatial Search Strategies for Ordinal and Non-ordinal Dimensions is taken from the 1st issue of Journal of Cognitive Development of Elsevier. Researchers who conducted those tests found that the language we use in our daily life influences our learning and memory. By comparing English of American preschoolers and Hebrew of Israeli preschoolers, they found that culturally consistent spatial layout also improves our learning and memory.For this translation, the translator has employed relevant translation strategies and theories which are most suitable for this source text in order to finish the translation report. The report initially makes a brief introduction to the original material as well as it’s text features. Then based on the Functional Equivalent Theory, proposed by Eugene A. Nida, and the Translation Shift Theory of Cartford, it discusses the translation techniques and strategies while providing multiple examples from said material. The final section is the translation report itself which sums up what the translator has learned from the task at hand.
