A Study On The Application Of The Narrative Feature Of Color In The Animated Short Film《Hopscotch》

The Visual art of animation is more imaginative and stunning than any other art forms. It is an artistic magician who is able to reverse the time and conduct time travel. The author can express his or her ideas freely and realize a vivid presentation of his or her self-awareness. As a way of expression of artistic creation, the color of animation can not only reflects the visual perception of the world in a direct way, but also manifests the implicit information and emotional connotation. Form and color are the basic elements of visual effect in frame. If the color in the frame is monotonic,then the power it bears is weak. However, if some emotional and spiritual elements are endowed, the appeal of color is considerable. The color helps to finish the modeling design, which will makes the figures more vivid, build the atmosphere and strengthen the emotional appeal.This paper adopts a method of integrating points and spheres to make a deep analysis of the narrative function of the color design in animation short film. Not only the values of unique artistry and narrativity are overall discussed, but also the narrativity of the color design in animation short film is detailedly studied.This study combines the literature textual research method and the comprehensive analysis method. In each chapter there are typical cases in animation industry to support the argument in such a way of examplification. Chapter four pays great attention to the graduation work-Hopscotch. The creation and the narrative function of its color design are studied. This paper studies the levels such as time,space, storytelling and emotional expression from the perspective of narratology,especially the study of the narrative function of the color design in animation.
