With the rapid development of the mobile internet, the mobile music service has been has been flourishing unprecedentedly. In this context, international enterprises have put more weight on the research and design of the mobile internet music service, and at the same time, are paying great attention to the emerging market. Research staffs and designers of different cultural backgrounds have been sent to the emerging market, engaging in the local mobile internet music service research and design with local researchers.The project is originated from the cooperative program between Nokia Research Center of China and Africa, which is to develop mobile internet music service design for the young music users in Kenyan Slum.The core of the study is to develop a set of methods and working process of the mobile internet music service design in the context of the cross-culture from user research to high-fidelity service prototype design.To the deficiency of the traditional mobile internet music service design methods in the cross-culture context and according to the characteristics of the mobile music service, innovatitive ways such as local music industry ecosystem map construction, key insights generation and user model creation have been proposed for generating concepts in accordance with the local music industry ecosystem as well as music activity context of the target users. Moreover, new service prototype design methods such as evolutional user test based on interactive demos, user evaluation of service UI features and user participated visual design have been proposed according to the characteristics of the user mental model. Finally, the practice of the above methods is realized and the validity of the above methods has been proved by the feedback from target users. The research result will provide reference of high value for the mobile internet music service design in the cross cultural context.
