The Japanese contemporary writer Murakami Haruki and his works have become a hot issue since his Norwegian Wood was translated and introduced to China in 1989, as a big contributor to this boom Lin shaohua also has been well known. Likewise, in Taiwan, there is also a female translator can be compared with Lin shaohua named Lai Mingzhu, as an early translation driver of "Norwegian wood" in Taiwan, her frank and honest language style has also attracted many attentions. In this paper, I have selected mainland’s best seller translated by Lin shaohua and Taiwan’s best seller by Lai Mingzhu. Having compared the two translation versions of the novel, this paper studies and analyzes the characteristics and different styles of each version, and explores the influences that social factors such as economy and culture have exerted on translators. On macro aspect, I have mainly analyzed translators’ attitude and translation style of the two translators. On micro aspect, I have discussed the details and characters sessions. As there are too many revised versions on this book, this report will select the version of Shanghai Translation Publishing House,2007 and the version of Shidai literature & art publishing house,2013 to have a comparison on the linguistic style of Lin and Lai.This paper mainly divides into four parts, the first part is the introduction to Haruki Murakami. The second part introduced the original language style of Haruki Murakami’s "Norwegian wood". The third part is mainly about a comparison of two translators from translation attitudes, translation styles, and details. The fourth part is a summary of literary translation.
