Prajna is one of the earlist thoughts of Mahayana which is introduced into China. In the west and east dynasty of Jin, there are some similarities between Prajna and Lao Zhuang metaphysics, so the Prajna can widely spread. But we should also aware that the Chinese scholars are influenced by Chinese traditional culture. So when they get the meaning of Prajna, they must understand in the Chinese way. Prajna in Chinese localization of development presents distinct characteristics. This article thinks that the development of Prajna can be divided into four stages, so it can reflect the constantly deepening of localization of Prajna.This first chapter introduces the incoming of Prajna and early translations of the classics. And in the context of the socio-political and ideological and cultural, we can analyze the causes of prajna in the early stage of localization and performance.The second chapter introduces that Chinese scholars use the method of Geyi to learn Prajna which form the thoughts of Liujiaqizong. This is the second stage of development of Prajna in ChinaThe third chapter describes Kumarajiva’s life and translation of Prajna classic and introduces Kumarajiva and his disciples’ teachings and translation activities, so we can see the development of Prajna by Kumarajiva and his disciple’s promotion and pilotion.The fourth chapter introduces the life and writings of Sengzhao. This chapter also discusses the critique of thoughts of Prajna by Liujiaqizong. And this can be the mature stage in the development of Chinese Prajna.
