The Wei and Jin Dynasties were very special in the history of China, at which a new terminology of Aristocratic Family was created. The rise and fall of Aristocratic Family affected the development track of Chinese history to a certain extent. In this paper, conventional documents and excavated epitaphs are quoted to reveal the Aristocratic Families’rise and fall course, aimed at investigating the overall appearance of the Family of Xue during the period of Northern Dynasty to conclude the Xue’s characteristics.The clan of Xue, located at east of Yellow River, was evolved from the clan of Xue, located at Shu, and was extremely discriminated in Northern Dynasty, which attached importance to the orthodox. Therefore, Xue fabricated life experiences, just as many of other aristocratic families, attempted to be the descendent of Xue, located at Yunzhou in Han Dynasty. Xue was divided into two branches:The Southern clan and the Western clan. The Southern clan inherited the ancestors’development patterns:advocating at force, and embarked on the path of Haozu. The Western clan changed the family style of advocating at force, because of the master’s prominent political position, and the descendents achieved profound cultural accomplishment and were gradually conversion to cultural clan, which made the family of Xue consolidated the political status and achieved into a period of great prosperity. The developing process of Xue can not only demonstrate the survival status of Xue family in the Northern Dynasty, but also demonstrate the historical evolution of Northern Dynasty.
