Nowadays we rely much more on the Internet in our daily life. When two websites are offering the same kind of service, the one that attaches more importance to usability and user experience will have the opportunity to win customers. User experience design and usability testing have become the key to website design. In recent years, eye tracking technology has been used in user experience research on websites. The advantage of eye tracking technology is that it provides a subtle and visual tool to observe and record browsing behaviors of different users. It is able to find something unreachable in the traditional usability testing and thus provide further information for user behavior analysis. The book Eye Tracking in User Experience Design is about the application of eye tracking technology in user experience design. As a Chinese version is needed for domestic readers, MTI Education Center of Qingdao University of Science and Technology was entrusted by the Post & Telecom Press to translate this book. Being a member of the translation team, the author is responsible for translating the third chapter.This report takes the translation practice as a case study to describe the whole translation process, which includes project analysis, preparation before translation, quality control and post-editing. In light of Nida’s theory of functional equivalence, the author analyzes the problems in the translation process, and focuses on how to achieve equivalence at the level of word, syntax, discourse and style. At the end of this report, the author summarizes some experience.
