The Practice Report On The Translation Of Family Romance:A Love Story From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence

Biography is a common form of literature.It mainly describes the life stories of the characters,and it is made from selectively arranging,describing and introducing the various written and oral memories and investigations.However,although the history of biographies is long,there are few studies on biographical translation.This reflects a weak link in the cultural exchange between China and the West,so it is necessary to study the translation of biography.Family Romance is a biography.The author is John Lanchester,a novelist,journalist,and winner of the Whitbread First Novel Award and the E.M.Forster Award.Biography writers may infiltrate some of their emotions,imaginations,or inferences in the process of describing the story of the lord.But unlike the novel,the biography is generally not fictional,and the documentary is the basic requirements of biography.The translator selected the last part of the book--Family Romance to translate and analyze,in order to understand the author's inner feelings and the emotion expressing of native English speakers.To further understand Western cultural and literary works.Nida has created and proposed the functional equivalence theory,and it does not emphasize the equivalence in the form of words,but achieve equality in the function of the two languages.With the application of functional equivalence theory,the translator used a variety of translation methods to translate the original text.The main content of the main body of this report includes the introduction of the background of the source text and the writing characteristics,the analysis of the key points and difficulties of translation,and the solution of case analysis.This report focuses on the analysis of vocabulary and sentence.The specific applications are as follows: vocabulary includes the choice of the word meaning,vocabulary abstraction and specific indexing and part-of-speech conversion;sentence aspect includes long sentence sequence,clause and conjunction,positive and negative translation.The translator used the case analysis method to enumerate the existing problems with functional equivalence theory,and finally wrote the report.
