Research On The Clothing Of Buddhist Statues( Bod Period )

In the past twenty years, the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics Protection Research Institute of Tibet Autonomous Region joint archaeological investigation and study.There are more than ten Buddhist statues remains have been found at the Bod Period in Tibet, Sichuan and Qinghai, and most of them are newly discovered in recent years.I have collected a large amount of data, and found that the relic of Buddhist cliff statues above in the Bod period were studied and analyzed and published with great valuable articles by some authority.Through reading these articles,further in-depth understanding of statues’ subject matter, composition and the image characteristic,I found some comprehensive description or discussion in the existing literature.However,it’s a lack of systematic and in-depth study of the cloth about Buddhist statues remains at the Bod Period in the clothing science perspective.This study consists of image in rethinking and tested by the material, and ultimately sketches out the Bod Period Buddhist clothing by clothing style structure:Buddhism statues ever found in Tibet early( Bod Period) can be divided into two kinds of statuary style(including dress style), a traditional India style and the Baltic style, East India style, Nepal style; another kind is the Tibetan style, mainly refers to the Buddhist wearing the clothing of Bod or the noble in high grade.Research on the Buddhist statues costumes of Bod Period reflect the cultural exchanges of Chinese and foreign in recent years, with attention of the domestic and foreign academic circles on the research, its value will be more and more known by scholars. The research of this subject will present rich costume culture information of Tibetan Buddhism statue, do some basic work for filling up the blank in Bod Buddha statues clothing research,booming its material culture.At the same time,this study explains the innovative design in modern fashion design.I will make the individual design attempt at the end of the article.
