The Study For Foreign Affairs Interpretation From The Perspective Of Skopotheorie

Facing the wave of internationalization, China has become the world’s second largest economy. After 30 years of reforming and opening up, China has experienced unprecedented boom with its gradually increasing international status. With further increase of people’s global awareness, the close relation between countries within all fields has become more and more obvious. In a series of international cooperations, the task of interpreter is more and more widely recognized.The success of foreign exchanges depends on the success of foreign affairs interpreting. It can be simply defined as the language conversion activity carried out in all kinds of diplomatic occasions where both sides aim to achieve the communicative purposes. The workplace and nature of foreign affairs have decided that it is of great policy and topicality. Foreign affairs interpretation can be divided into consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting. The thesis mainly focuses on the model of consecutive interpretingThe foreign affairs activities play a significant role in foreign exchanges, gradually causing the extensive attention of scholars both home and abroad. The western scholars in interpreting activities constantly sum up and perfect the theory, by contrast, domestic research is limited and lack of discussion in depth. Instead of playing the role of theory guiding practice, it has made many interpreters tend to get the viewpoint of " interpreting without theory ". Upon this evaluation, the thesis made use of Skopotheorie proposed by German functionalism as the theoretical support and comprehensively deepened into the interpreting links such as:Listening, understanding, memorizing and expressing to find and solve problems.The thesis hopes that through the study of the characteristics and interpreting strategies of foreign affairs, combined with specific practices, the disciplines of foreign affairs can be found and the quality of foreign affairs interpreting can be improved. The thesis can better enhance the capacity of interpreter and make slight contribution to the diplomatic development of our country as well as Chinese and foreign exchanges.
