Report On The Translation Of Texts Of Business Investment And Chengdu Culture And History

The source text of this translation practice project consists of two kinds of Chinese texts. The first one is the text of business investment which comes from business investment advertisements of over two dozen of companies and corporations which are published in local newspapers and magazines. The second one is the text of Chengdu culture and history. All texts are excerpted from Chengdu Survey (Book One) published by The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China Press in March 2014. The texts talks about some important figures, significant events, cultural heritages and historical relics. This paper consists of four parts. Chapter one introduces the translation practice project. Chapter two is translation process description. Chapter Three is case studies which are based on the theory of aesthetics representation. The author put her eyes on the description of the translation process and tries to study some cases for the purpose of solving practical translation issues. Based on the translation aesthetics theory, the author analyzes the translating of complex sentences in business investment text, of four-character phrases and terms in Chengdu culture and history text. In last chapter, the author concludes this translation project. This project improves the author’s abilities to collect data and screen information; it also helps students to enhance their translation capability and deepen the understanding of translation theories concerned.
