Residential space and employment space are important components of urban structure. How to properly carry out the arrangement of employment and living space, is a core and permanent issue and of urban planning. Currently, China is in the institutional transition, urbanization and spatial phenomena, such as the increasingly prominent reconstruction, land and housing market reform elements of the series, as well as the rapid increase in traffic demand diversification and urban transport, both urban post live spatial relationship changed significantly, and the resulting duty to live separate, traffic congestion, air pollution increase, and many other urban problems.In this paper,based on sample survey data and land data use,with ArcGIS software and SPSS19.0 statistical analysis software, use of questionnaires, statistical analysis, empirical research, GIS spatial analysis method to study the functional space of Changsha, conclusions are as follows:(1)Currently Changsha city is in a reasonable range of distance and time, traffic congestion has become a key issue of the housing-jobs balance, employment-residential space separation is not obvious, the structure of employment-residential space is acceleratingly restructuring,but relationship has not yet reached a good match, difference units each have different problems.(2) Unnder the impact of urban land and the market, rapid development of urban space, planning and policy,living space basically formed Three types,simultaneously,the employment space from a single center to a multi-center.at the micro factors, education, nature of property, income, commuting, commuting costs and other factors on the Changsha city commuting time and commuting distance significant, and education, the higher the income, the higher the cost of commuting commuting time and commuting greater the distance, there is ownership housing residents commuting time and distance no greater than the residents of home ownership. Such as gender, family structure, marital status factors whether influence or not is not yet clear.(3) Put forward living-Employment spatial planning proposal, measures overall planning and subregional planning of Changsha.
