| "Jobs and Skills for Youth:Review of Policies for Youth Employment of Russian Federation" chosen by this project is one of the international reports issued by International Labor Organization (ILO), and its major idea is that ILO has made an assessment of youth employment situation via a survey and review of the Russian youth labor market and youth employment policies and institutions as well as the collection and analysis of information relating to the effectiveness of international policies and programs. In view of Text Typology put forward by Katharina Reiss, one of the founders of Functional Translation Theory, reports which pay attention to the authenticity and objectiveness of the content are regarded as informative text. Hence, in this project, based on the linguistic and textual characteristics of the source text, and with the help of Text Typology as well as Skopos Theory, the translator translates Chapter One, Three and Five of "Jobs and Skills for Youth" into Chinese, makes exploration and analysis from lexical, syntactical and discourse aspects and provides solutions to major issues and difficulties during the translation process with the hope of making a conclusion on the E-C translation strategies and methods for informative text, such as adopting parallel text, lexical conversion and cultural alternative for lexical translation issues, division, inversion and amplification & omission for syntactical translation and conjunctions and substitution for discourse adjustment, improving the translator's capacity in informative text translation and supplying a possible reference for the E-C translation of informative text as well as Chinese readers concerned about the youth employment situation both at home and abroad. |
