University History Museum is a university exclusive historical museum and it is used for collection,research,exhibition,education and propaganda of the university’s related development information.The art exhibition of University History Museum is a kind of aesthetic practice for the compilers and designers. They have to make full use of the space of the museum, satisfy the psychological needs of the audience and create the best display mode.Since the exhibition and display service level of University History Museum are relatively backward in our country, the author of the paper believes the education and publicity effect of University History Museum depends on the understanding of the psychological needs of the audience.Consequently, this paper applies the museum psychological Research methodology to the research and propose specific methods can be used to study University History Museum showcasing: Psychology,observation, investigation and comparison. Meanwhile, based on the Maslow’s psychological research, this essay analysis and explains the three main factors affecting the specific audience of the University History Museum: the audience needs, the attention of the audience, the audience’s understanding. What’s more, the author of the paper points out in the exhibition and display process, the demand for all types of people of Museum showcasingis a higher spiritual and social needs.In order to meet people’s higherneeds, this paper conducts “people-centered”-a modern exhibition method to the planing and exhibition design of University History Museum. That is focusing on turning the collection of articles, researching and the purpose of the exhibition to processing service for audience and the society so that the audience could reach the resonance with the designer and the aims of the exhibitions.By analysis and learning of several representative European and American University History Museum experiences, the author of the paper applied a questionnaire survey on the psychology of the audience in Xi’an Polytechnic University History Museum. By analysis and research on that, this paper proposed methods of a modern display to meed the audience needs for aesthetic, entertaining, communication. Those methods will play a better role in educating,serving of University History Museum.
