Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) plays a crucial role during the Italian romanticism period; he was recognized as the opera master during 19th century. Verdi inherited and carried forward the traditional Italy operas. During his life, he wrote 27 outstanding operas, chorus, chamber music, and songs, etc.In three different periods of his composing time, he created many famous masterpieces, such as, "Nabucodonosor" "Ernani" "Macbeth" ".Rigoletto" "II Trovatore" "La Traviata" "La Forza deldestino" "Don Carlos" "Aida" "Otello" "Falstaff". Especially "Otello"was a profound milestone in his late works; which was rendered with strong tragedy color. People thought that Verdi ran out of his talent, but the birth of "Otetto"was amazing. Records showed that the applause to Verdi could not end after the opera performance; people cheered "Viva Verdi!" on the street till the next morning.This work has supremacy in the hearts of the Italian people.This article uses Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello as the research character to interpret and analyze the role and character’s personality. It also uses different chapters to elaborate the evolution steps from Shakespeare’s plays to the opera through the touching music under Verdi’s pen. The analysis of Desdemona’s character is the focus of the article. The music expounds and analyzes two paragraphs in chapter four: "La Canzon del Saclce" and "Ave Maria,piena di grazia" They express Desdemona’s feelings of helplessness, grievances, and the complex mood to death. Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello contains various contradictions; and her personality was sculpted from many different angles. A simple and kind girl with a rebellious spirit has a strong conflict with herself who was slandered by her husband and could not defend or resist. The inability of redemption and her contradictory psychology are what the author is trying to seek interpretation and discourse. At the end of the article, it introduces and compares with multiple versions of the original opera texts, the theme sources, and Verdi’s life, work processes to further discuss to end the article.
