Innovative Applications Of Traditional Blessing Characters Manifestation In Design

The Chinese nation has a very long history. After the historical accumulation, a lot of excellent traditional culture had been handed down, including the important part, the blessing. The traits and contents of its own is the reason why the blessing could spread so far.The so-called "blessing" refers to pray to the gods or a religious vow of something. Through the ages, the blessing culture has been existing in the changes of history. Therefore, blessing culture contains two forms, material blessing and spiritual blessing. Material blessing is that people pin their best wishes on some items or characters, and spiritual blessing is on some virtual forms, which can be items or characters. From the above, it is not difficult to see that the blessing also can be classified by objects and characters, namely items and characters blessing. Characters blessing means people place sound hopes on the person who owns lucky, and can be real person or unreal gods.When comes to this figure, it varies from forms and regions. As mountain refers to the mountain god, the sea is the dragon king, and the land means land secretary. People combine life with legends to give every thing a relative god within a good wish, then endow themselves to the god and prey for lucky, so there emerge blessing characters. There are a lot of blessing characters, the most representative nine gods are the Guanine, the Maitreya Buddha,the Fu Lu Shou, the God of wealth and the God of doorway respectively. Author select these most representative nine blessing characters to our study, by using the method of reasonable way, adding our own innovation, to give the blessing characters a better inheritance.This paper mainly base on the mentioned nine gods, through innovative applications, to enable the traditional blessing person with sense of time and getting better promotion of inheritance in today’s society. But at the present field of graphic design, there have been a lot of trite designs. This paper illustrates the opinion within four points as the simplified decorative pattern, graphic recreation, network application and trait into today’s life. Innovative applications of traditional characters is based on the traditional blessing character graphics as a starting point, refined by the modern design aesthetics, integrated of the art form, modified in the traditional blessing character graphics, eliminated the tedious and redundant parts, retained the classic elements, finally combined the traditional trait with a social link, highlighting the modernity without losing its own characteristics. The modern plane design needs to learn and adopt the good parts and elements, then use them on design and recreation. It should be a correct and reasonable inheritance, developing our imagination in the new era, and making it true sense of the times.
