The animation is an integrated art which contains elements like music, painting, drama and other art forms. Music, which is an indispensable part in the animation, serves as one of the most important standards in measuring the success of the animation.In the 1960 s to 1980 s, Chinese animation film once has a high international reputation, and has been called "China school" at home and abroad. It had created a large number of excellent works which had received various awards in various international film exhibitions, making the Chinese animation occupy a place in the history of animated film in the world. The success of "China school" can be attributed to the fact that music plays a role that can’t be ignored in the film. Therefore, studying the soundtrack of "China school" animation film not only can make a more comprehensive understanding of "China school" animation film, but also can learn a lesson from the music and provide new thoughts for the Chinese local animation music.In the present work, an in-depth investigation of the artistic characteristics of the "Chinese school" animation movie soundtrack has been conducted from the perspective of the animation music by using both the theoretical knowledge and the method of text analysis.The paper can be divided into four chapters. The first chapter explains some related concepts including the specific meaning of the idea of the "Chinese school", its original source and background of development. Different historical stages of the development of the "Chinese school" animation film soundtrack are given as well. The second chapter investigates the national characteristics of the "Chinese school" animation film soundtrack. From the perspectives of the national mode, the national musical instruments, folk songs and opera music, a technical analysis of the specific artwork of the animation music is conducted by comparing with foreign animation film music, which further demonstrates the distinctive national characteristics of music. The third chapter investigates the linguistic features of the "Chinese school" animation film soundtrack. Basing on the four major types of film(the ink animation, the mythological elements animation, the animation for toddlers and the no lines of animation), the linguistic features of its soundtrack are explained from different aspects like the combination of music and film narrative, picture processing methods, etc. The forth chapter objectively investigates the "Chinese school" animation film and soundtrack, and summarizes the experiences and lessons of its music creation. The paper finalizes with puting forward the corresponding countermeasures for the problem of the development of contemporary Chinese animation film music.
