Research On The Music Of McDull Series Animated Films

As a kind of film,animated film is a comprehensive art which integrates painting,comics,film,photography,music,literature and so on.Because of the virtual features of animated movies,which give composers great imagination space,music has become an extremely important element in animated movies.Until now,the relationship between music and animation has become more and more close,even difficult to distinguish.In recent years,China’s animation film development is rapid,film and television works for music requirements are getting higher and higher,animation film music research has become an important subject.As an important branch of Chinese animation film,Hong Kong animation film has a unique localization feature in the history of animation.Among them,according to Xie Liwen,Mr.and Mrs.Mai Jiabi created the "Mc Dull" series of animation works adapted from the "Mc Du" series of animated films,become the representative work of Hong Kong animation films,Mc Dull’s image has also become Hong Kong’s well-known cartoon image in the world.The success of the "Mc Dull" animated film series is inextricably linked to the music in it.This paper will take the six films in the "Mc Dull" series as an example,from the point of view of film musicology,combined with the research results in the fields of film and television,music science and so on,a comprehensive analysis of the music.First of all,it briefly introduces the source of Mc Dull’s image,the director and composer of the film,the main content of the six films,and summarizes the artistic characteristics of the film.Secondly,it summarizes the music in the film,analyzes its artistic characteristics from three aspects,such as music material,instrumental technique and singing style.Furthermore,by discussing the expression of music in the film,it embodies the ingeniousness of the use of music;Finally,the artistic function of music in the animated film series of "Mc Dull" is divided into six parts,such as integrating into the film plot,revealing the theme of the film,explaining the time space,shaping the character image,weakening the tragic color,baking the atmosphere and so on.Through the in-depth analysis of these parts,it shows the creation law of the animated film music of the "Mc Dull" series and its artistic charm.
