Selecting self portraits of female painters during the Republic of Chinese as the research object, the objection of the dissertation is to probe into the way female painters who live in a special environment,hide themselves within self portraits in male-oriented art word,and how female painters develop a voice with self portraits,how it affects mainstream art.In this text we carry on the survey by regarding psychology and feminism theory as the key link,according to the related historical data and specific works,attempt to make a deep analysis from a psychological point,explain exact ideas and feelings of these women who from different classes.The first chapter introduces the environment for female artists development during the Republic of China.Chapter Two selected works fetch Pan Yuliang,Cai Weilian,Sun Duoci and Yu Feng as representatives of proletariat,new intellectual,Chinese feudal intellectual,urban petty bourgeoisie and bureaucrat-capitalists,study on theirs family environment and personality combined with the history materials.The third chapter researches female painters’self portraits using the method of feminist psychology,social psychology and psychoanalysis,interpreting metaphor in images of self portraits,search for female painters’mind through the paintings, and make effort to further develop traditional coverage.This article focus on individual artist’s achievement, emphasizes to understand the female art multi-dimension from aspect and so on social,strata and psychological,and finally achieving the goal of breaking through the limitation of traditional masculine words.Since the 1990s century,Feminism Art are boosting in China,started to reconsider the cultural disfigurements of male discourse in feminism.However, the reality of the development of feminist is not optimistic,female always lies in frontier position.The evaluation of female art still governed by the male discourse system, male-centered power discourse hidden in women art,deeply influences female artist" s artistic creation and criticism of female art achievement.Through the research of the female self portraits during the Republic of China,the dissertation endeavors to illustrate that,as existing in a society with multiple context of class, culture and gender, three interactive political colonies,women artist during the Republic of China encounter hegemony from various dominant language.Because of given such circumstances,they are more likely to experience discrimination, misunderstanding and obliterating.In that case,their resistance is secluded and stiff. The author studies female artists, with the aim of advocating for deeper research on female artist in the history and at present,establishing a new Female Art comment system, providing new enlightenment for women artist’s creative inspiration, enriching the study of Female art history,promoting the development of feminism.
