This is a translation project report of two short stories, Bardon Bus and Hard-Luck Stories selected from The Moons of Jupitor written by Alice Munro, the Nobel Prize Winner in Literature in 2013 and also one of the most outstanding short story writers. The report aims to cope with the problems in the process of translation. The Moons of Jupiter is a mirror of daily life reflecting the living condition and the relationship among people. The translation of her works can promote cultural exchange, thus making Chinese readers know more about Munro. At the very beginning, this thesis gives a brief introduction to the translation project including the source of the translation task, the characteristics of the author’s works, the survey of the present situation of the translation of her works, the content, the purpose and the significance of the study. And the next part is the procedure of the translation, which includes the analysis of the characteristics of novel translation, the requirements for translators and proofreading. Under the guidance of the Functional Equivalence Theory, the relationship among text, meaning and form is managed in great flexibility. Some examples are provided to discuss the translation approaches in this report. Questions discussed include the translation of the titles, the techniques such as extension of word meaning and negation. And the last part is the conclusion of the translation project concluding the lessons, implication and unsolved problems.
