This report is based on the translation of Collection of Chinese Contemporary Fairy Tales. From the perspective of the translation of fairy tales, the author introduces the performance of the translation, and summarizes the experiences gained from it.This report records the whole process of the translation task, including the selection and edition of the source text, pre-translation, translation and post-translation. It explores preparation of theories, pre-analysis of the parallel text, source text and target readers, determination of translation style and strategies, utilization of translation tools as well as proofreading of the translation. It also contains "Case Study" part, in which cases are categorized into three groups: translation of idioms and set phrases; translation of idiomatic expressions of fairy tales; translation of rhetorical expressions. And some examples are selected to illustrate the translator’s application of different translation strategies and methods.Moreover, on the basis of Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development and Kenneth Burke’s rhetorical theory of identification, this report carries out its analysis and research of the translation of fairy tales in brand new perspectives, namely psychology and rhetoric.
