A Report On Chinese Translation Of Celtic Fairy Tales(Chapters 18-25)

Celtic mythology plays an important role in the history of European civilization,but there are relatively few translations of such literature in China.Collected by the Jewish historian Joseph Jacobs at the end of the 19th century,Celtic Fairy Tales is a rich collection of Celtic folklore on the British Isles.The book contains twenty-five stories,and the translator chose Chapter 18 to Chapter 25,the last eight stories,which is about 17,000 words,as the source text to translate.In this translation practice,under the guidance of the text typology theory of Katharina Reiss,the representative of the German functionalist school,the translator uses appropriate translation skills to ensure the readability of the translation while accurately conveying the original information to readers.This translation practice report consists of four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which introduces the project background,project significance and report structure;in the second chapter,the translator introduces the text typology theory in detail,and describes the specific process of translation;in the third chapter,the translator analyzes specific cases at the lexical,syntactic and textual levels,and through the use of translation skills such as part of speech conversion,division,combination,addition and omission,the accuracy of information conveyed to the target readers is ensured,and the combination of theory and practice is realized;in the last chapter,the translator summarizes the gains and shortcomings of this translation practice.Through summarizing appropriate translation methods for the problems arising in this translation practice,the translator hopes to accumulate experience for future translation practice and provide reference for translators of similar texts.
