| With the development of science and technology, network has penetrated into our daily interactions. By the end of last year, the number of Chinese Internet users reached 649 million, Internet penetration rate of 47.9%, and Chinese Internet users spent 25.9 hours on the internet per capita per week. But as the Internet has become an important medium of communication, its negative effects are also increasingly prominent. Social exclusion is one of the negative effects on individual. However, the metrical tool of cyberostracism and correlative empirical studies are scarce. Based on the existing research abroad, combined with the actual situation of Chinese college students’ cyberostracism, we adopted interview method and questionnaire method to explore the phenomenon of cyberostracism of Chinese college students. The purpose of this study is to further explore the main manifestation and the influence mechanism of cyberotracism. At the same time, the comparison of social exclusion and cyberostracism is discussed. Around this goal, we carried out the following three researches:In research one,27 college students were invited for interview. We collected a lot of forms of cyberostracism from the interview. Combined with the previous researches in the field, we picked out the representative manifestation of cyberostrcism, and then drew up the items of the questionnaire. And further, the selected 467 subjects for predicted testing and 1077 subjects for formal testing was asked to fill out the predicted questionnaire and revised questionnaire. Through exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and reliability and validity test, the results showed that, the questionnaire had good reliability and validity, and could be used as tools for further research. The questionnaire on cyberostrcism was introduced into the study two. We selected 1077 college students to investigate the status and characteristics of China’s College Students’ cyberostrcism. The results indicated that, the whole frequency of cyberostrcism was higher than that of social exclusion in real life. And the highest frequency of cyberostrcism usually occurred in internet group chat room. And further, the occurrence of cyberostracism of college students in the school type, gender and grade had significant difference. In order to explore the relations among cyberostrcism, social exclusion, self-control and depression, we chose 1077 college students as our subjects. The subjects were investigated with such instruments as Cyberostrcism Questionnaire for college students, Social Exclusion Questionnaire, Self-Control scale and Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. The results showed that, cyberostrcism and social exclusion predicted significantly with self-control; self-control correlated significantly with depression. Overall, self-control produced different indirect effects between cyberostrcism, social exclusion and depression. Finally, we summarized the inadequacies of this study, and put forward ideas for further research in the future, and elaborated the significance of the study in theory and practice. |
