The Chinese Traditional Values And Its Effect On Happiness Of Independent College Students

Background Happiness is the goal of human, and it is closely related to everyone.The research about influence factors of happiness is mostly originated from abroad, and mainly about factors such as individual psychological traits. However, in reality people of different regions and cultures has different understanding of happiness, our traditional culture psychology workers have begun to focus on relationship between Chinese traditional values and happiness. The Confucianism and Taoism traditional values is the essence of Chinese traditional culture, The Confucianism advocates " going into the world ", The Taoist pay more attention to " leaving the world ", both of them complement each other, form the Chinese localization of psychological system, it has a unique understanding on happiness, and exerts a subtle influence on the people deep spiritual world.the theory of traditional values and well-being is so much, but less real evidence.Objective Through surveying the Confucianism value and happiness of the indepen-dent college students, we know the relationship and influence with each other. By comparing with general students, we analyzed the independence and predictive func-tion which the independent college students’Confucianism traditional value have to their happiness. Excavating the happiness root of Chinese traditional value, we try to find a new way of promoting happiness from the cultural dimension.Method1. Taking the cluster random sampling method, we selected500 general students and other 500 independent college students as research objects. And taking question naire method, with traditional value scale and the Taoism traditional value scale an dthe Oxford Happiness Inventory as research tools.2. we analyzed the data with SPSS19.0.Using independent sample t test, single factor analysis of variance, correlation analysis and stepwise regression analysis of data for statistical analysis.Result1. There is no significant difference on the Confucianism value score between the independent college students and the general ones (t=0.463, P>0.05); The Confucianism value of the independent college students has significant difference on whether they are the only child or not (t=1.766,P<0.05)2. The Taoism value of the independent college students has no significant difference with the general students (t=0.841,.P>0.05);The Taoism value of the independent college girls has significant difference with the general ones (t=2.442,P<0.05); The independent college boys and girls have significant difference on the Taoism value (t=2.426,P<0.05)3. There is no significant difference on the happiness score between the independent college students and the general ones (t=0.446,P>0.05);Ordinary undergraduate college students and independent college students scores in positive emotional (t=1.797, P< 1.797) and mental alertness factors (t=1.228, P< 0.05).4. The independent college students Confucianism value, happiness and other factors appear positive correlation. The regression equation is significantly (FF=24.789,P<0.001), the Confucianism value has remarkable predicted function on happiness, the function is of statistical significance.5. The independent college students Taoism value, happiness and other factors appear positive correlation, The regression equation is significantly (F=19.928,P<0.001) the Taoism value has remarkable predicted function on happiness, the function is of statistical significance.Conclusion:1. There is no significant difference between Independent colleges and regular college students experience of the Chinese traditional values, both of them relatively accept the Chinese traditional values. The independent college non-only child students have more acceptance of Confucianism values than only child students. The regular college girls have more acceptance of Taoism values than independent college girls.The independent college girls have more acceptance of Taoism values than independent college boys.2. There is no significant difference between Independent colleges and regular college students experience of happiness, both of them have more happiness.3. The independent college students’Confucianism and Taoism value and happiness have relevant relationship, and the degree of recognition of the Confucianism and Taoism value could forecast the status of happiness.
