Heritage And Change : Trade Route, Freight And Regional Social Change In Fujian Guangdong And Jiangxi Province From The Ming Dynasty To The Republic Of China

Ganzhou County,Tingzhou County and Chaozhou County belong to the Jiangxi Province, Fujian Province and Guangdong Province. Judging from the geographical locations,the three counties are linked with each other and have similar environmental conditions. During the period of the Guangzhou’s only port,here has been prosperity of transit trade with its social economy developed accordingly.After five ports opening,coastal ports opened and traded with foreigners.Shanghai replaced Guangzhou as China’s foreign trade center. Under such a background, Ganzhou County,which enjoys a unique geographic advantage and benefited greatly by the transit trade had loses its superiority. Accompany with the change of the trade routes and the imported goods impac,the market of Tingzhou County and Chaozhou County are also in a constant state of flux. Then,a new method of transporting freight and people was here to stay. Thus,a new change of the interstate commerce had taken place.
