| In Wei Jin Southern and Northern dynasties, Buddhism had developed very well.It was mainly attributed to the process of Buddhist education. This thesis is about the object, content and method of the Buddhism education. All of these, the Buddhist education has its own features of time.First of all, in Wei Jin Southern and Northern dynasties, the Buddhist education objects had their own characteristics. As the main character of teaching, the mages had to understand the Buddhist principles well, and were good at speaking. They were personable people. When they could explain what they understood to other people and were admitted by their teachers or peers, they could teach the Buddhist culture. Du Jiang as a character of the mage’s assistant was also an important subject in the teaching process. They helped the mages to read the Buddhist scriptures and asked the mages questions about the education content. What they did helped the students to understand the content which the mages had told more easily. As students, the Buddhism didn’t have any limits on gender, age or other qualifications. They just traveled to study the Buddhist principles and they often have more than one teacher. They studied very hard. Secondly, the content of the Buddhism education were both about the Buddhist culture and the Secular culture. The Buddhism culture was the main part. The Buddhism in Wei Jin Southern and Northern dynasties were taught by different contents and were good at different eras. The Buddhism culture education was about the Buddhist scriptures which formed different theories, such as the Prajna, the Nirvana, the Three Theories and many other theories.The Secular culture was about the Confucian and the Taoist such as the the Classic of Rites, the Book of Changes, the Spring and Autumn Annals, Zhuang Zi, Lao Tzu, the Classic of Filial Piety and so on. Thirdly, the method of the Buddhism education in Wei Jin Southern and Northern dynasties included reading, coping, translating,writing, speaking, answering the questions, giving lectures and so on. Fourthly, the Buddhism education had formed its own characteristics in Wei Jin Southern and Northern dynasties. |
