The study on unconscious in the field of unconscious motivation, goal management is developing rapidly in recent years. It has been confirmed that the unconscious target can be activated by some external way, and the activated goal will cause people continue to pursue the target.Unconscious goal pursuit of success or failure comprises three steps: Activating the unconscious target, pursuing the goal automatically, manipulating the result by set tasks easy or difficult. Self-esteem is the core of the self-system and is an emotional experience of the ability and self-worth.Self-esteem has a great impact on people’s mental health. Self-service attribution bias is that people tend to attributed the energetically favorable behavioral outcomes to internal stability factor, and tend to attributed the negative unfavorable results to the instability outside factor. In this thesis, unconscious goal pursuit of success or failure is the inspection object, and then discussing and analyzing its impact on self-esteem and self-serving attribution. This thesis firstly introduces the concept of the unconscious, and described the pursuit of the goal theory, and summarized the methods and mechanisms of the unconscious goal pursuit and activated. And elaborated the relation of self-esteem and self-serving attribution bias. Based on this, the author designed two experimental of2x2, and the dependent variable are self-esteem scores and attributable fraction.Activating the subjects unconscious target through Scrambled Sentences Task, and manipulating the result of goal pursuit through Raven Progressive Matrices Test. Then using the self-esteem scale and self-serving attribution tests on the subjects to obtain the self-esteem level and the attribution scores. Finally, the experimental results were calculated and Statistically analysis. Through data analysis to explore the impact of the success or failure affects of unconscious goal pursuit with self-esteem as well as self-serving attribution.Through the analysis of the two experiments, the conclusion could be received in this thesis as follows:1、The unconscious target can be activated by SST,and it can affect anindividual’s self-esteem. The people who activated the unconscious target had a higher self-esteem level than who have not activated any target. And do simple Raven test students showed higher level than do difficult Raven test.2、The second experiment shows that people tend to attributed the energetically favorable behavioral outcomes to internal stability factor, and tend to attributed the negative unfavorable results to the instability outside factor. Student who perform difficult task showed a stronger self-serving attribution bias than the subjects do a easy Raven task.what’s more, this result show more obvious when activated the goal of the unconscious.3、Self-esteem is variability, but also has a certain degree of stability.Activating or not activating the unconscious target, the students showed different self-esteem level. The students who completed the tasks of varying difficulty showed different self-esteem level. But in the second experiment, people’s self-esteem have no significant change before and after the attribution test, which confirms the stability of self-esteem.
