"The North Of The Four Seasons" Creative Ramble

This paper introduces the emotional source of creating the watercolor landscape painting ‘Four Seasons in the North’ and its artistic conception, as well as the northern native landscape impact on the painter. This work conveys the painter’s hometown sentiments and the objective influence of many landscape painting masters. By researching the masters’ schema, I use the classical ones to form my picture and the creating and painting of ‘Four Seasons in the North’ is referenced to the famous American watercolor artist-Andrew Wyeth’s painting of schema.Shooting in the creative process largely determines the composition, furthermore, Combining the rules and principles of beauty, creators construct the picture by their choice, organization, induction and integration of natural objects, which make the picture elegant and harmonious.Using appropriate techniques in watercolor landscape painting creation greatly helps us to get perception of self and familiarize tools and materials, which is another value of my watercolor landscape creation. However, techniques are not the whole of watercolor painting art. Only by constructing spiritual core of the picture can watercolor painting have deeper cultural connotations.The characters of watercolor, such as transparency, blend, and exquisiteness, make this kind of paintings natural scenery poems, especially, the blend and clean performance can make people enjoy peace and quiet in fickleness and further feel the unique Oriental elegance and charm.In the creating process of watercolor paintings ‘Four Seasons in the North’, the elements and rules of constructing pictures, such as methods, techniques, construction, forms of expression, are well understood and used, which reflects that researches on creating artistic conception and feeling are of great academic value to make excellent artistic works.Practice has proven that a good watercolor creation must depend on the creator’s unique artistic smell, self-cultivation, and good understanding to artistic conception and characteristics of watercolor paintings, as well as appropriate use of its techniques. Only by this can creators open their creative mind and bravely explore, then enjoy the pleasure of creating watercolor paintings, promote humanistic ideas and improve the aesthetic interest and ideological realm. Such artistic creating method is of theoretical and practical significance to watercolor paintings’ creation.
