The Education Research On Bohai State

Bohai State was a regional nation regime established on the basis of Mohe nationality. In its history of more than 200 years, it had set up a sound educational system and mechanism, which laid a solid foundation for "Big Country on the east of the Bohai Sea". The ruling class of Bohai State developed education through the introduction of "advocating Confucianism education" policy. As a protectorate under the regime of the Tang dynasty, Bohai has unique conditions for the development of education. Ever since the founding of this nation, each emperor of the Bohai State preferred to adopt the education of Tang style. By constantly learning from the Tang dynasty, Bohai State set up a relatively complete educational system, including public school, private school, and overseas study, its educational contents mainly included the Confucianism, Chinese literature and poetry, and so on. The content of education in Bohai State was similar with that in the Tang dynasty. The development and prosperity of education were not only benefited from the ruling elite’s promotion, but also inextricably linked with the diligence of its people. Bohai country’s education not only promoted the political, economic and cultural development and prosperity in Bohai country, but also created favorable conditions for the advanced culture of Central Plains region’s north spreading. Meanwhile, it also brought great influence on Liao dynasty and Jin dynasty’s education for future generations. What is more, it also provided some suggestions for the construction of modern education in remote areas today. Though the education of the Bohai State had made brilliant achievements, we still need to see the problems of the Bohai State’s education. The education of Bohai country was developed by the upper class according to their own preferences, so this development mode of education did not have solid social base, and the education was imbalanced in geography, the objects of education, and the education content, which foreshadowing the quickly disappearance of the Bohai culture.This paper main combines the historical records, unearthed documents and remained sites together to analyze the setting of educational institutions in all levels and rich and colorful contents of education, and reveal the process of development and improvement of Bohai State’s education, as well, it explores the characteristics of education development in Bohai country with the aim to make clear the influence and historical role of Bohai State’s education.
