Song of Solomon is not only a famous novel by African-American writer Toni Morrison, but also a renowned African-American literary piece, which has drawn much attention of the critics both at home and abroad. By describing the three generations of Macon Dead family, the novel relentlessly reveals the brutal truth of the serious spiritual destruction of African-Americans caused by slavery and racism. The trauma has made them lose their ego-personality and distorted in spirit.Psyche formation has been a significant research subject in psychology. This thesis analyzes the trauma personalities in the novel and discusses blacks’ ego psyche formation process. Moreover, the thesis makes a deep study of the narrative therapy used in the novel and summarizes the function of it in healing blacks’ traumas in their mind. In conclusion, it should be emphasized that it is just through the special writing technique of narrative therapy that the author of Song of Solomon encourages black people to go out of the historical dark shadows and helps them build up more ego-confidence and a good ego psyche formation, telling their traumas to others is the way of achieving that.
