The Research On The New Life Movement In Gansu Between 1934 To 1949

The New Life Movement is a national education campaign and political moveme nt launched by Chiang Kai–shek,which aims to "recover the ashes,achieve national rej uvenation".Chiang Kai–shek intended to deal with all sorts of political crisis his rulin g Nanjing national government faces by virtue of the movement. "Honesty and honor" was set as the basic criteria of the New Life Movement,the movement started from F ebruary 1934 to the end of February 1949,lasting for 15 years.The New Life Moveme nt is launched by Chiang Kai–shek on February 19,1934 in Nanchang.It quickly swep t the vast majority of Chinese provinces,became a widespread social movement afterw ards.In this paper,the particular movement in Gansu from the period of 1934 and 1949 is targeted as a case study to evaluate the outcome of Gansu New Life Movement.B y analyzing the achievement of the movement as well as discussing the shortage and li mitation of the movement in Gansu,the implementation of Gansu New Life Movemen t is studied critically.The topic is divided into four parts.The first part,simply introduced the New Life Movement in China,the implement ation background and development of the New Life Movement in Gansu province.Th e background includes the political and social economic elements,the three stages of t he New Life Movement in Gansu.The second part mostly talk about the main structure of the New Life Movemen t in Gansu.The main structure is constructed by two parts includes the implementatio n institutions and personnal.The implementation institutions are mainly Gansu New L ife Movement Promotion Association,Working Committee for Women,County Prom otion and Labor Service Organizations;The implementation staff are mainly civil serv ants,policemen,students and women.The third part is mainly discussed the contents of the implementation of the Ne w Life Movement in Gansu.Relates to the "rules" and "clean" campaign;Prohibition of o pium;Carry out haircut and prohibit foot-binding movement;Saving movement;Publi c education;Make propaganda for the support of the war;Implementation of the "San H ua" plan;to hold various commemorative activities and assembly.The fourth part evaluate the Gansu New Life Movement.Including worth affirmation achievements and the reasons,shortcomings and analyses the limitation causes,t o make an objective and fair evaluation of Gansu New Life Movement.
