Through The Process Of Proto-porcelain To Explore The Origin Of The Porcelain

The origin of the porcelain is a development process, not an independent time or a clear kiln which can produce porcelain overnight. As the initial stage of the porcelain, in essence, study the development of the pro to-porcelain is the origin of the porcelain. Zhejiang Dongtiaoxi unearthed a large number of the proto-porcelain kiln, characterized by a long and continuous occupation history, cultural rich deposit, and various types of objects. For now, it’s age across from the xia and shang to the Warring States Period.This paper will take proto-porcelain of DONGTIAOXI as an example, select from PiaoShan kiln, BeiJiaShan kiln, NanShan kiln, HuoShaoShan kiln, TingZiQiao kiln, ChangShan kiln as the research objects, using EDXRF,XRD,Raman spectroscopy, Thermal expansion and other scientific technology to test the composition of tire and glaze, the phase of tire and soil sample, the firing temperature, and water absorption.Based on the analyses of the data, the paper draws some conclusion:(1) Shang and Zhou dynasties have used chinastone materials as a single material, and the raw materials come from local materials. The emergence of glaze inspired by kilnsweat. Glaze is made of Chinastone and plant ash. Although either the tire or the glaze has a certain development from the Shang and Zhou dynasties to the Warring States Period, artifacts retain many original characteristics. For example, The raw of tire still remains more impurities, there are a lot of stomata in the tire, the thin layer of glaze is often flow and gather together.(2) The Shang Dynasty has emerged dragon kiln. For the loaded firing technology, The shang dynasty have fired stacked together, during the Spring and Autumn Period appeared TuoZhu to prevent artifacts adhesion together, during the Warring States Period there was firing support pad with special artifacts(3) In the process of firing into a porcelain, it will forms mullite when 950℃; forms the secondary mullite when 1120℃; above 1200℃, mullite phase beginning balance and cristobalite start generating. The four samples of HuoShaoShan kiln and TingZiQiao kiln, which firing temperature has reached or exceeded 1200℃ basically, from the physical point of view on the macro performance, bibulous rate is lower than 1%. Carcass phase observed mullite and cristobalite, theoretically carcass has been porcelain basically.Summary, the raw material is porcelain stone, exist glaze, firing temperature can reach 1200℃, carcass phase observed mullite and cristobalite, theoretically the proto-porcelain of Spring and Autumn Period can meet the requirements of porcelain basically. However, the raw of tire and glaze still remains more impurities and the quality of glaze is very poor, the temperature is very difficult to control. Thus, the proto-porcelain of DONGTIAOXI is still in the early stages of porcelain and is gradually developing to the mature state.
