Families Development And Local Social Change

This paper takes Pangui Fang in the Hakka settlements community, eastern of Guangdong as the research object, exploring the changed progress in the influence of a clan from turmoil to stability,or the development from traditional to modern.The aim is at exploring the formation and development of the community and the close relationship of the development of the local families.During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, Pangui Fang was just a chaos village near the east gate of the town with tiny areas. And there is no prestigious families. During the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, under the background of social turmoil, the east gate boundaries was always been broken without fast stand.The authority centralized immigration of celebrated families here to make the Eastern Gate as a line of defense using their force and fighting capacity.After the qing dynasty social stability, the community family in the imperial examinations and two-side business achievement makes the fame of laurel fang,climbing to usher in a boom. Pangui Fang, was since from a mixed population settlements to a successful community with the development of culture and education, prosperous business and celebrated families. The radiation scope of Pangui Fang, also expanded and moved because of the reproduction of the people of the community family and was able to extend to almost the whole city from the previous tiny part.In the movement of the Taiping Heavenly kingdom Peasant Uprising, Pangui Fang community experienced a major setback, with huge losses. But after the war,some community families soon revived, and began to test the waters in the modern industry and commerce, establishing modern education.Pangui Fang has resulted in the modern transformation period. And the development process even led to the modernization of Meizhou.In modern times the abolition of the imperial examination makes the community families began to decline, many family children went "nanyang", Pangui Fang climbed out of many overseas Chinese since then. These overseas Chinese were active in home construction, making Pangui Fang "the Hometown of Overseas Chinese".The rise and fall of the development process of Pangui Fang was almost the same with local families changes. We can see that the region development makes huge impact on the community. Tribal areas and the development of the domain of social development process is influenced by each other, promoting each other,complementing each other.
