A Research On The New Secondary School Principals’ Role Adaptation

This study was designed to make some research on the new secondary school principals’ role adaptation and social support, analyze the relationship between them,and put up some rational suggestions on the new secondary school principal’s role adaptation.This paper choosing 104 new secondary school principals from principal qualification course in Jiangxi as the participants, using revised New Secondary School Principals Role Adaptation Questionnaire and Social Support Evaluation Inventory as the study tool, applying the SPSS statistical software, analyzes the current status of the new secondary school principals’ role adaptation and social support, and the relationship between them two.Results: 1. The questionnaire, composed of role cognitive, role attitude and role relationship, has good reliability and validity. 2. The new secondary principals’ overall role adaptation level is relatively good; in role relationship and role attitude dimensions, the adaptation level is good; in role cognitive dimension, the adaptation level is relatively good. The new Presidents’ role cognitive problems should be concerned. 3. The new secondary principals’ role adaptation and some factors have significant differences in age and educational background, but no differences in gender and eontime. 4. The new Secondary Principals’ social support and some factors have significant differences in age, but no difference in educational background, gender and eontime. 5. There is a significant positive correlation between the new Secondary Principals’ role adaptation, the subjective support and the support utilization. 6. Subjective support and support utilization can predict the role adaptation significantly.Conclusion: All the new secondary school principal are on the relatively good level of role adaptation. The social support can predict role adaptation in some ways.
