| With Chinese becoming a popular language in more and more countries, there is still a huge gap in the world’s demand for Chinese volunteers.More and more Chinese volunteers are going abroad to teach Chinese.Intercultural adaptation has become the primary problem that this group must face.Previous studies on intercultural adaptation of Chinese volunteers mostly focused on the analysis of factors affecting intercultural adaptation and elimination strategies, and the research area was mainly concentrated in Asian countries, while there were few studies in Europe, especially on Central and Eastern European countries.Taking Chinese volunteers in Baltic countries as the object of investigation, this study adopts the method of combining quantitative research and qualitative research, and starts from the perspective of social support in psychology to analyze the situation of intercultural adaptation and social support of Chinese volunteers, and tries to further discuss its relevance. To verify the prediction of social support on intercultural adaptation and the correlation between the two dimensions. This paper first introduces the background of the research, briefly explains the development status of Chinese teaching in the Baltic countries and the significance of the research, and then sorts out and elaborates the research on intercultural adaptation and social support at home and abroad. The first chapter determines the research object, research ideas and research methods of this study. The second chapter verifies the hypothesis through the statistical analysis of the questionnaire. The third chapter further finds out the obstacles and influencing factors faced by Chinese volunteers in intercultural adaptation through the analysis of semi-structured interview content. The fourth chapter, based on the relevant research on social support and intercultural adaptation, puts forward some suggestions to help overseas Chinese volunteers to successfully achieve intercultural adaptation from different perspectives.Through the questionnaire and interview survey of Chinese volunteers in Baltic countries, the sample data were collated and analyzed, variance analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis, and the four hypotheses were verified, and the conclusions were drawn as follows: Social support has a significant predictive effect on intercultural adaptation of Chinese volunteers, and different dimensions of social support have different effects on intercultural adaptation. So the predictive effect of subjective social support and the utilization degree of social support is the most prominent.Giving full play to subjective initiative plays an important role in intercultural adaptation of Chinese volunteers.Different sources of social support have different effects on intercultural adaptation, among which the social support from family members and non-compatriots has the greatest impact.Maintaining good communication with family members and friends and actively establishing friendly relations with local people are conducive to the smooth realization of intercultural adaptation. In addition,in addition to directly influencing intercultural adaptation, objective social support often acts on intercultural adaptation through influencing subjective social support. Therefore, there is a mediation model between subjective social support, objective social support and intercultural adaptation. |
