| Cognitive psychology is one of the main research directions of western psychology in recent years, which focus on human cognitive processes such as attention, perception, repre-sentation, memory and so on, and the memory research is an important aspect in the field. Since we cannot directly observe internal psychological processes, and we can only speculate these internal psychological processes by observing the input and output, psychologists pro-posed Multinomial Processing Tree (Multinomial Processing Tree, MPT) modeling method so as to better explain the behavior of the underlying cognitive processes. MPT modeling approach effectively combines the polynomial distribution of statistics with related concepts of psychology, and has become a common platform designed to handle psychological ex-periment data. Its basic idea is to describe the cognitive psychological processes as several processing trees, where each node of the tree represents a cognitive process, and each branch represents the possible cognitive processing sequence between the input and response.The memory is divided into two aspects in the cognitive psychology, and we call the main part of the memory as item memory, and we call the background portion of the memory as source memory. According to these two kinds of memory, psychologists respectively proposed the storage-retrieval paradigm and source monitoring paradigm. First, the paper briefly introduces the general situation and the development of cognitive psychology field and the related theories and the study importance of memory research. Secondly, the paper simply introduces the production and the development of MPT modeling method, and gives a simple but classic MPT model. Again, the paper respectively illustrates MPT model on storage-retrieval paradigm and source monitoring paradigm. Finally, the paper gives specific experimental data, and carries on the comprehensive statistical analysis, and discusses the qualitative analysis on the significance of psychology. |
