With the rapid development of our economy, as a language tool to promote domestic and foreign exchange, English will bring more wide range of applications, but our vocational colleges as the training technical talents base, how to improve the non-English major students’ English ability will be all kinds of vocational schools’problem at present in our country.In this paper, the author takes three freshman classes of different departments from A college to carry out the experimental study, through researching on internet teaching platform for English teaching in these three classes, the innovative teaching method reveals the revolutionary changes from the internet teaching platform to English teaching. Firstly, the author analyzes the problems of English basic teaching in higher vocational colleges, searches relevant information for serious reading through literatures, compares the results of other researchers to the teaching situation, and combines with the actual situation of higher vocational colleges to solve problems characteristically, and the advantages and effects of the internet teaching platform based on information technology are analyzed; Secondly, the paper formulates the relevant teaching reform method, practices in these three classes for nearly two years; At last, the author compares the data with the reform of the teaching method before the reform, the aim of the study is to sum up the successful cases and experiences of the reform of English basic teaching in Higher Vocational Colleges under the information technology.In the course of the research, the author reveals the feasibility of the reform of College English basic teaching in higher vocational colleges, it changes the way of teaching that teachers do what the books say, cultivates the good habit of students’ study independently, the new teaching mode turns teachers-center to students-center. The teaching results show that the use of the internet teaching platform can promote the positive development of teaching and students’ autonomous learning ability, it also promotes the teachers to analyze themselves’teaching, and it behaves as following:the teachers’ education comes easy, the students’ learning interest is strong, and their grades are improving. Although some results and experiences have been obtained, however, the research teaching of the author is limited to the students of some classes in A college, the research is small, the results of the study cannot be promoted, and it needs to be further studied and demonstrated.
