Our country is a multi-ethnic nations, with a long history tradition of folk. Each nation has its own splendid folk culture within the territory. Carrying on from generation to generation, the folk culture is an important part of Chinese culture and plays an important role in strengthening national identity, strengthening the national spirit and shaping national character, etc.With the development of the society, the folk culture protection and inheritance work are increasingly bringing to the attention of the people. There is no lack of rich and colorful folk custom content in varieties of university teaching materials and in daily life. But the folk dance, an important resource, hasn’t been got deserved attention and utilization in dance class education in colleges and universities. As to effectively improve students’ comprehensive quality of dance art, dance teaching has become an important part of art education in colleges and universities. And introducing the local folk dance class, not only can provide students with the most friendly local resource, and let the student inherit the good virtue of traditional culture in the folk custom culture, but also expand the students’ humanistic vision, which can be beneficial to cultivate the students’ exploring spirit and inherit and develop traditional culture.On the basis of analyzing the research status, this paper points out that there are a lot of especial characteristic dances except for those already in huge influence and characteristic dance. These kinds of dances are various. They are combined with the local geographical and humane environment closely, They can clearly display us the art which comes from life but higher than life so that we are no longer to dismantle body language of the folk dance as vocabulary, but for an organic culture; It is helpful for us to pay attention to explore and analysis cultural gene and present the full view of folk dance from three-dimensional during the transmission of education. Meanwhile, the paper also makes the corresponding explaination for the teaching objectives of folk dance course in colleges and universities, including their teaching methods, teaching principles and teaching contents from the perspective of art education.
