Chinese Americans have been excluded and discriminated by the American mainstream society for a long time since they set foot in the land of United States. They were in the huge pressure from economy,politics and culture before 1943. Most of them lived in the Chinatown where it was isolated by the mainstream society. Therefore, there were a great deal of Chinese Americans who had a strong belief that they would return to their roots sooner or later. Even then, it could not be neglected that Chinese Americans were integrated with American consciously or unconsciously. After 1943, American government abolished the Chinese Exclusion Act and established Immigration and Nationality Act due to the great change of international situation in 1965. So the amount of Chinese immigrants was increasing gradually, and they communicated with Americans in economy, politics and culture more frequently. The barrier between New York Chinese and Americans decreasing from 1943 to 1990. The Chinese Americans’ employment structure was changing from early physical labor industry to finance, real estate and tourism, etc. The intellectuals have dominated the Chinese society instead of the former labors. Enhanced economic power and social status. Political apathy was disappeared, Chinese Americans entered the stage of American politics.Moreover, they have integrated into the mainstream society in language, life style and values. It has built a firm base for Chinese immigrants to transfer returning to their roots into striking root. Chinese immigrants have reached an agreement that integrating into the American society, and it is also an irresistible trend.
