Neighboring mountains and rivers, the Mingde Royal Tombs are widely known as “the small Ming Dynasty Tombs”. They are the tombs of De royal family of the Mid-Ming Dynasty. The archaeological survey shows that the seven generation of seigniors were buried in these tombs. Nowadays, there are more researches about the imperial mausoleum system of Ming Dynasty compared with the researches about seignior’s tombs. Hence, it is very necessary and important to study Mingde Royal Tombs. This thesis is composed of three main parts.First part of thesis explores several factors which influence the location choice of tombs, such as geographical environment and Fengshui, layout features of tombs, as well as similarity and individuality compared with seignior’s tombs of Ming Dynasty.Secondly,through field investigation and combined with relevant information,specific distribution of the De royal tombs,tomb,the tomb shape, the epitaph,and the decorative patterms are analyzed,fully reflects the regulation and evolution of the mid Ming dynasty prince cemetry.The final part gives some reasonable suggestions about protection of Ming De Royal tombs.A lot of information about the history of Ming Dynasty can be gained by studying Mingde Royal Tombs, such as economy, politics, culture, historical records and the royal burial system. Hence, the results of this study have significance for the historical exploration of seignior system of Ming Dynasty and the protection of tombs.
